Magic Boys Represent Hunter

20 May 2016 by Andrew Bozinovski

This week Magic players David Ifield and Patrick Langlois represented Hunter in the NSW Combined High Schools State Football Championship held at Tomaree.

Hunter topped Pool B undefeated and only conceded 1 goal. In the Pool fixtures Hunter also defeated pool favorites Sydney South West one goal to nil.

Hunter drew second placed Pool A team Sydney North in the semi final and came out victorious. This win set up a Final and Pool B rematch with Sydney South West after they accounted for tournament favorites Sydney West in their Semi final.

The final match was an entertaining affair that was eventually won by Sydney South West after they were awarded a late penalty. Hunter battled hard to equalized after going down early to a poor back pass but with 2 minutes to go the linesman adjudged a foul in the box and the referee awarded the sport kick which they converted, 2-1.

A special congratulations must go to Patrick who was elected MVP for Hunter and his performances earned him a spot in the coveted NSWCHS1 team. NSWCH1 and NSWCHS2 teams will battle it out to be the best in the state at the NSW All Schools State Championships where they will play against teams representing the Independent and Catholic school systems.
